TARKA Tennis Centre player Emerson Styles ended a successful summer with two singles victories at the Devon Closed finals at Ivybridge.

He did not lose a match in either the U14 or U16 boys singles on his way to both titles.

This ended a summer for Emerson which saw him play at Wimbledon, win an U16 event at Taunton and finish as Devon No 1 in the U14 catergory. His recent wins will also push him up to the top three in the U16 when the new lists come out in the next few weeks.

Tarka was well represented at the Devon Closed finals, with the U14 & U16 boys singles featuring all four players from the centre.

Emerson beat Tarka team mate Mat Morrish 6-2, 6-0 in the U14 singles and Tarka’s Pete Underhill 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 in the U16 singles.

Mat Morrish finished at Devon No 2 in the U14, with Peter Underhill at No 2 in the U16.

Mat also made the doubles final with his partner Erik Wilson.

Beth Nash won the U14 girls consolation and Ella Gill the U12 girls consolation.

There were also semi-final places for Narhan Woo, Lucy Gill and Kieran Rooney Heason.

In recent years Tarka has produced seven county champions from North Devon and is heavily represented in all Devon teams throughout the year.
