BARNSTAPLE Development XV trounced Newton Abbot 2nd XV 23-7 in a top-of-the-table Devon Merit Table clash at Rackerhayes.Barum's superior fitness told at the end of a tough game and moved them in at the top of the table.Ben Brownscombe, whose godfather is Newton's director of rugby Phil Burford, put Barum ahead with a penalty.There was no further scoring until then second half when Brownscombe knocked over another penalty.The first try came when Darryl Bennison skipped over in the corner.
