Buccs arrived on the back of three straight big wins and looked to carry on in a similar vein when they went 7-0 up with a Jack Brailey try under the posts after five minutes. Matt Brayley converted. That was the last the Buccs saw of the Bideford line until the agonising last few seconds of the game. In the intervening 75 minutes Nomads played their best rugby for many seasons, scoring twice either side of half time with tries from Fergal Milne and Jamie Evans which took the hosts in to a 10-7 lead. Buccs Kevin Rushton scored from a penalty move late in the day. The whistle blew immediately after the conversion attempt and left the Nomads distraught with nothing to show for their heroic performance other than pride, bruises and a yearning for the next encounter on Boxing Day at Pottington. Toby Richards took Nomads man of the match with an imperious performance. Hooker Steve Roberts took the award for Barnstaple The backs tackled their hearts out and ran the ball with energy, Harry Waters and Mitch Barclay being at the centre of the action.
