IT was a case of de ja vu in the final of the North Devon Skittles Charitable Trust's 10th annual skittles knockout competition at the Plough Inn in Bickington.

Barum Bowlers and title holders Nippits met again in a repeat of last year's final, but this time it was the Bowlers who came out on top, winning the narrowest of victories 312-311.

In the semi-finals Barum Bowlers of the Conservative Club beat Pilton Clappers of the Ring-o-Bells, Prixford, 319-300 while the Nippits of Barnstaple Ex Servicemen's Club beat The Reds of Bideford Rowing Club 300-280.

Trust president Andrew Gibson presented the Huxtable Shield to winning captain Pam Elliott and her team Maurice Elliott, Derek Evans, Jas Evans, Richard Chapple, Marion Redman, Clive Baddick and Sandra Baddick.

Money raised by the annual competition is used to buy equipment for the North Devon District Hospital. This year two 02 saturation machines and a heart monitor were provided for Glossop ward.

The annual auction and draw night, plus a skittles competition, is being held at Barnstaple |Football Club on Friday, November 26, starting at 7pm.
