Barnstaple and Pilton were six-wicket winners at Clyst St George on Saturday.

Jayakrupakar Nallala top scored for CSG with 48 in their total of 226 for nine.

Jack Moore (3-53) shaded the Barnstaple bowling returns from Lee Cole (2-40) and James Lake (2-48).

Skipper Steve Moore bowed nine overs for 20 runs, all but two of which were scored in singles.

The target came down to 207 to win after a shower held up play and Barnstaple got there with time to spare and wickets in hand.

George McEndoo (51) and Sam Blithell (26) got the chase started, Jack Moore (28) and Cole (31) kept it going and Tim Norton (25) was joined by Steve Moore (23) in an unbroken stand of 53 to finish it off.

Barnstaple are at home to D East leaders Heathcoat II this Saturday.

North Devon dropped to second from bottom in the D Division East after losing by five wickets to Uplyme and Lyme Regis.

And in a division with three relegation places this season, North Devon need a result against Sandford this Saturday to start clambering up the table.

Tyler Wellman (3-20) ran through North Devon’s top order as the visitors subsided to 46 for five.

Jeremy Thompson (26) and Rikki Kelly (28) put on 33 then Jay Rothery (18) joined Kelly in a stand of 21 that brought up the ton.

Ewan Peddar (3-17) and Laurie Thomas (2-30) saw off the North Devon tail as the visitors were bowled out for 124.

Jed Whittington – third out for 44 with the score on 50 – pointed Uplyme in the right direction.

Matt Dart (3-36) and Carl Murphy (2-22) had Uplyme wobbling at 52 for five, but Thomas (25no) and Charlie Moss (38no) saw them home without further mishap.
