CRAIG Attwood from Braunton Target Shooting Club won his place to represent Devon at Bisley for the Champion of Champions Competition. for the best shots from each county in the country.

Craig, 18, was the youngest of 29 competitors, who had to shoot 60 shots prone to try and earn a place in the Olympic style final.

On his 46th shot the trigger on his rifle malfunctioned, but Craig held his nerve and finished the competition with a respectable 588 out of 600, gaining fifth place, only five points behind the leader.

Despite a faulty trigger, he shot a very good 10-shot final to hold his fifth place - the highest placed Devon shot for many years in this competition.
