After the disappointment of rained off games two weeks earlier, the match between North and East Devon under 11s at Chulmleigh became a championship decider, with great anticipation among players and spectators alike. North batted first, with Jasper Presswell and skipper Reuben Windley working hard to set a sound foundation in a partnership of 74. There was great excitement as Jasper neared a century but after two hours at the crease, he edged to the keeper for 97. The damage was done though, with the team setting 203 for four. The East started well as the North opening bowlers did not quite find the right areas. It took a spectacular direct hit from Ben Seaman from fine leg to get the needed breakthrough quickly followed by a high top edge calmly taken by keeper Hayter. Reuben Windley (2-14) and Henry Cooper (2-12) both bowled accurately and to a full length and removed the East middle order. Jasper Presswell removed opener Lukas Soeller for a patient 11, bowling the next batsman in the same over. Brother Charlie Presswell flighted one past Mayor and then ran out Ben Simms for 10 with another direct hit before Cooper applied the finishing touch, with the East dismissed for 94 in 26 overs.
