MISSED penalties came back to haunt Ilfracombe as they bowed out of the Devon Junior Cup after extra time 28-13 to OPM.
The teams were level at 13-each at the end of normal time, but twice in the last 10 minutes Ilfracombe missed penalty shots that would have put them ahead.
Ilfracombe went down to 14 men due to a sin-binning going into extra time and were killed off by two tries.
Dan Brierley did land two penalties for Ilfracombe and converted a try by Lewis Morgan-Russsell.
Ilfracombe are at home to Buckfastleigh on Saturday.
South Molton’s cup interest ended after a 23-13 defeat by Dartmouth from the division below.
Molton were 8-0 down before half time and 15-8 down midway through the second, Steve Ayre kicking a penalty and Mike Lee adding a try.
Darmouth were over the hill and far away when Roger Pinkham got a late try for Molton, who are at home to Wessex in Devon One on Saturday afternoon.
