SPORTS coaches are being sought to help inspire more local young people to get involved and be part of North Devon's drive towards the 2012 Olympics. The North Devon PEDPASS Partnership is looking for those with a passion for sport to sign up and help provide extra coaching sessions at schools and clubs. They say there is a shortage of high quality coaches and the aim is to boost what is already on offer, hone existing talents and encourage more young people to take up sport.PEDPASS is working closely with local secondary schools in the area to assess and supply their coaching needs. The organisation is seeking people who possess, have had or are working towards, a sporting qualification and could be available to provide extra curricular coaching at schools between 3pm-5.30pm. "The new approach is designed to capitalise on the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity presented by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and to inspire more people to take part in and succeed in sport," said a spokesperson for PEDPASS.The organisation is a School Sports Partnership and supported by the region's two district councils, working to increase sporting and physical activities amongst young people. To find out more about the coaching opportunities on offer, go to www.nd-pedpass-partnership.org.uk, telephone Cressida Ward on 07811 275011 or email crward@greattorrington.devon.sch.uk.
