North Devon Cricket Club’s Tarka Ladies took on Topsham at the Sandhills on Sunday.

North Devon Cricket Club’s Tarka Ladies continued their winning streak at Instow at the weekend.

They beat visiting Topsham by a massive 232 runs in the Devon Women’s Cricket League on Sunsday.

After winning the toss, captain Lauren Bowden chose to bat.

Openers Kate Williams (27) and Eluned Davies (50) got the match off to a very positive start before Alli Kelly knocked a rapid 75.

Kelly was caught and bowled by youngster Molly Dart who had a great day for Topsham.

Lauren Bowden added 22 to the total before being dismissed by a terrific catch from Maddie Ross off the bowling of Molly Dart.

In came Carmen Clements, who hit four fours to race to 22no.

Player of the day though, unquestionably, went to Lydia Clements.

Clements, coming in at three, played a mature innings to reach her first ever century, ending on 109no.

The Clements sisters shared the crease until the end, with Carmen allowing Lydia to retain strike to make her total.

Tarka finished their innings with a massive 337 runs for four wickets.

Excellent fielding ensured Topsham weren’t able to get close to North Devon’s total, with Ellie Holland saving plenty of runs from the boundary, as did Katie Williams and Bish Muir.

The ladies did find wickets hard to come by, with Kelly getting the only dismissal of Topsham’s innings.

The travelling side could not establish anywhere near the run-rate required, though, and finished on 105 for one.

Tarka take on Hatherleigh at the Sandhills in two weeks’ time.
