The 10-year-old is unbeaten on the track in 2018 after Sunday’s Duchy Minors meeting, with some incredible performances both over sprint and middle distances.

Sunday’s meet saw him place first in the 75m, 150m and 600m, with personal bests in the sprints.

At U11 level Olivera has set club records for the 75m, 100m, 200m, 600m and 800m, and his 600m time of 1min, 41.43secs makes him the fastest in the UK for his age and the 10th fastest at U13 level.

Olivera is in his third year with North Devon Athletic Club, with his first competition in 2016, and his passion for athletics started after a friend suggested he take part in a junior park run.

He has a clear vision that he wants to compete in the 2028 Olympics and maybe even the 2024 as a 16 year old,” said father Marco.

“Although the latter is less likely, the way he’s progressing, who knows!

“Since starting he’s become the male with the most wins and for three years running has held first place in the Age Grade League.”
