Barnstaple U14s lost a thrilling match 17-14 against undefeated county champions Ivybridge. Ivybridge took full advantage of the wind and slope in the first half and scored three tries to turn around 17-0 up. The second half saw an aggressive onslaught by the Barnstaple pack, who hunted and drove their counterparts backwards with aggressive rucking and tackling. Instinctive breaks by centres Jamie Overton and James Reeves brought them tries with Pat Sanders adding two fine conversions. Barnstaple U12s continued their improvement with an emphatic 35-7 win over Taunton, who had defeated them earlier in the season.Ben Morris opened the scoring with a 50-metre interception try. A well-placed kick by Sean Davies put winger Daniel Cannon over in the corner. Taunton fought back and scored a try before the break. Davies, who had two tries disallowed in the first half, finally managed to get the ball down to open the second half scoring. Scrum half Cameron Henderson worked tirelessly behind the forwards and eventually picked up a try of his own. Will Hartnoll closed down the game with a typical hard driving try. All tries were converted by Cameron Henderson. Man of the match went to the tireless Liam Ellis.Barnstaple U11s continued their undefeated run, but had to fight hard against a dogged Taunton team. They eventually came out on top 25-5.Try scorers were Nathaniel Bayet (2), Bradley Campbell, Zac Davey and Robbie Hume.The strength in depth of the U10s was demonstrated on Sunday when they sent two strong teams to Taunton. The first game was drawn 10-10 with tries coming from Brandon Harvey and Will Knill. Taunton won the second game 5-0.
