National Three South West: Barnstaple 28-7 Weston
Skipper Winston James made up for some lost time with two tries as Barnstaple moved further away from the wrong end of the National Three table with a 28-7 win over Weston.
Flanker James sat out most of the pre-Christmas fixtures with a foot injury sustained in a pre-season game against Bideford.
Barum have only lost once in the last four starts now their talisman is back, which shows how much he has been missed.
Victory hoists Barum to ninth in the table with a seven-point cushion between them and the bottom three.
Barum had to wait until the 24th minute for a try which was set up by Chris Lowrie at No.8 and executed by James. Jordan Petherbridge slotted the first of four conversions.
James was mauled over for try number two early in the second half.
Full-back Will Topps collected the third try when he ran up the left then round behind the posts.
Weston got a try back in the last 10 minutes when Tom Crossman claimed a push-over and Chris Young converted.
A couple of minutes from time Lowrie went in for the bonus-point try.
Barnstaple are at home to Bournemouth this Saturday.
Barnstaple Athletic won 14-13 at Ivybridge last time out.
