YOUNG golfers at the Portmore Junior Academy are getting in the swing with the help of local businesses.

Supermarket giants Sainsburys have teamed up with local shirt printers Brand It to provide the juniors with shirts to wear for their lessons and competitions.

The rapidly expanding and successful junior section had a great day in the sunshine for their latest six-hole competition, with even five-year-olds coping well with the Par 3 course.

PGA Professional Andy Pye said: “The children are all coming on leaps and bounds and it’s great to see them enjoying themselves at the same time as learning the skill of playing golf. All the members are happy to give their time to help the youngsters and the floodlit driving range and Par 3 course make it the perfect place to learn. The children would like to say a massive thank you to Sainsburys and Brand It for their shirts. It’s great to see local businesses supporting clubs like this.”
