NO surprises at Taw Meadow where B Division leaders Abbotskerswell trounced bottom side Barnstaple by 95 runsAbbots proved too strong for lowly Barnstaple & Pilton even with three of their first five batsmen missing.The Acton brothers - Richard (64) and Paul (54) - formed a new opening partnership in the absence of Alun Lewis and Steve Short. As they put on 114 they could find the job becoming permanent.Richard Acton faced 73 balls, and hit just four boundaries, while Paul dispatched seven fours in his 94-ball stay.Mike Pugh went in at first wicket down to bat through for an unbeaten 51 as Abbots put up 209 for six declared.Mark Metters bowled tidily for his three for 62. Nick Dartnoll had three for 56, but only bowled nine overs.Abbots didn't need the extra over the declaration bought them as they shot B&P out for 14 with three to spare.Dartnoll (35) got early runs for B&P, but after Tom Popham was fourth out at 47 for 20 the decline started.Matt Black led the way with four for 26 and there were three wickets each for Marcus Green and Phil Bradford as Barum were packed off 114.Barnstaple are away to fellow strugglers Cockington this Saturday.
