Woolacombe Surf Life Saving Club sent a small, young team to the British Stillwater Championships at Bath over the weekend. They did well to finish in fifth place overall. Highlights were the medley relays, in which the girls team of Katy Devine, Fay Mills, Jo Devine and Catherine Bliss won gold and the boys team of Jimmy Manley, Owen Prickett Treacy, Sam Middlemass and Luke Penman won bronze. Luke also won an individual silver medal in the 100m mannikin tow with fins.The Masters section also sent a small team of 4 competitors, Ali Grimwade, Carolyn Devine, Chris Mooney and Colin Lewis, who finished 6th overall and took several individual medals.Croyde SLSC had only one entrant in the Masters competition, but were well represented by Shaun Latham, who took silver on the 50m mannikin carry and 50m rescue medley and bronze in the 100m obstacles.
