BRAUNTON youth cricketers won their first cup of the season when they beat Bideford in the final of the Graham Harris Cup for under-12s at Instow.

In an exciting twenty/20 final, Braunton set Bideford a target of 164, with Sam Lathwell ending just short of his century on 97, well supported by Kingsley Latham on 21. Tom Brend took 1-16 in two overs.

Bideford lost a wicket in the first over, but responded well, with Billy Blackburn finishing on 38 not out and Michael Townsend reaching 19. Braunton captain Alfie Huxtable broke the partnership with 2-3 in his first two overs, while Lathwell effectively closed out the contest with 4 overs, 2 maidens for only 4 runs as Bideford came up short.
