BRAUNTON came unstuck by 75 runs away to B Division promotion chasers Thorverton.
Thors recovered from a wobbly 75 for six to make 185 all out in the last of their 45 overs – Dan Beatty making a top score of 71.
After Jake Crouch had been and gone for 29 the Thors collapsed and a stand of 77 between Beatty and Harry Choules (32) got them a target the bowlers could defend.
Braunton shared the wickets around with three each for Mark Johnson (3-31), Callum Mitchell (3-25) and new signing Lenroy John (3-37), a Royal Marine based in the area.
Braunton were all out for 110 in reply – their last five wickets falling for 17 runs - as they collapsed against Jake Choules (4-21). Ian Roberts’ 38 was as good as it got for Braunton.
Beatty (2-15) and the impressive Stuart Tait – he took two for 18 on a promising promotion from the 2nd XI – backed up Choules.
Braunton will be looking to bounce back against visiting Axminster this Saturday.
