BRAUNTON had an unusual experience at Cornwood where their A Division game was called off due to... a hail storm!Braunton were 14 for two after 15 overs when the ground was blanketed in hail and the game called off.Earlier, Kevin Willcock dug Cornwood out of trouble against Braunton by hitting 53 to rescue them from a worrying 64 for six. Three wickets had just fallen for one run as Cornwood got into trouble against Barney Huxtable (2-17) and Andy Paddison (2-34).Willcock and Chris Parker (18) took the score up to 132 for eight when the partnership was broken by left-armer Jon Baglow.Baglow ran through the tail to claim five for 33 as Cornwood were bowled out for 141 an over early.Back at Kelsey the 2nd XI were beating Stoke Gabriel by three wickets in a C Division clash. Paul Collings (47) and skipper Jeff Baker were the leading Stoke run getters. 212 for seven.Chris Brigden (3-47) was Braunton's best bowler.Opener Jody Abbott laid the foundations for the Braunton run chase by whacking 95. Ollie Seymour (31no) and Jon Higgs (25) chipped in too.Braunton 1st XI are at home to South Devon on Saturday. The 2nd XI visit Ivybridge.
