Braunton still have some work to do to be sure of avoiding relegation after they tumbled to a six-wicket defeat at Whimple.

Opener Callum Mitchell made a top score of 65 – he and Jon Baglow (20) got Braunton started – and there were chip-ins from Alec Hodges (34), Andy Wood (21) and Brendon Harris (23) to a total of 193 all out.

There were three wickets apiece for Cameron Kidd, Matt Brown and Devon Nightingale – and a run out.

Wimple made early progress through Henry Gordon-Lennox (40) and Nathan Kidd (32). Cameron Kidd’s 82 wrapped it up with nearly 10 overs unbowled.

Defeat leaves Braunton one place and 11 points clear of the third relegation slot in the division with four games to go, starting with Alphington at Kelsey this Saturday.
