SIXTEEN riders from Bideford Bombers BMX Club braved appalling weather to race in a regional event in Bristol on Sunday .New Bomber Tom Searles gained second place in the 10-13 years novice section in his first regional race.There were first places for Brian Jury in the 16-24 years cruiser class and young Stephanie Jury in the girls' seven-nine years.Charlie Knight took part in her first away regional race and gained sixth place in the 10-13 years novice, while younger brother Harry was sixth in the seven-nine years final despite an unfortunate fall.Shaun Gatting made a good return after a four-year break to take sixth in the a final of the 25+ 20in race and his his eight-year-old son Marley finished fifth in the seven-nine years A final.Other Bombers' results: Shane Teare 14 + novice 2nd; Steve Branch mountain bike 2nd;Jack Gatting 10 yrs 3rd A final; Paul Teare 10 yrs 8th A final; Steffan Teare 11-12 yrs 4th; Will Nethacott 13 yrs 8th; Daniel Jury 14 yrs 5th; Brian Jury 17 + 5th A final; Cyril Jury 17 + 6th A final; Justin Gatting 25-29 yr cruiser 2nd; Justin Gatting 25yrs 20in 1st B final.The Bombers ride again on Sunday in the next regional race in Wales.Training is on Thursday nights and Saturday afternoons at the Pollyfield track at East-the-Water, all are welcome.
