THE 1,000metre course on the River Dart brought two first places, two seconds and two thirds for the Bideford Blues at Totnes Regatta.

All the Blues crews had to race in heats to make their way to the three-boat finals.

The previous unbeaten Ladies Junior 16 Coxed Quad of Hannah and Jessica Myers, Annie Cook, Alice Jackson and coxswain Zoe Robertson lost their record after coming second in a tight race to a strong home crew.

This was not to deter Alice, who went on to win both the Ladies Junior 16 Sculls and Ladies Junior 18 Sculls.

The Novice Ladies crew of Holly and Kirsty Webbe, Amy Alford, Kelly Edwards and cox Colin Pennington were hoping to continue on from their previous week's first outing and win at Wimbleball regatta. But it wasn't to be, being pipped to the post by the Exeter ladies crew.

Sculling in his first race, young Chris Daniels joined Ben Reeve,Oliver Roberts-Key and Owen Godwin in the Men's Junior 16 Coxed Quad. They came through their heat to make it to the final, but lost out to the more established crews, coming home in third place.

The Men's Senior C Coxed Four won their heat to also make the final, but also had to be content with third place in the final.
