Bideford Bombers veteran Sean Scales returned to the track on Sunday for Round 5 of the South West regional BMX event in Tiverton.

Nervous at first, he flew around the track in his motos to gain a place in the A finals and ending up with eighth place in the 40yrs+.

Newcomer to racing Darren Phipps rode triumphantly in his 40 yrs+ motos and also rode well to take first place in the B final.

Brothers Flyn and Troy Ebworthy also attended their first regional race since becoming members of Bideford Bombers. Troy gained third place in the 10 yrs+ B final and managed Flyn eighth in the 14 yrs+ A final.

Novice results: Kolby Ellis 7-9 yrs 8th A final; Jack Thorne 7-9 yrs 8th B final;Thomas Thorne 10-12 yr 3rd A final; Aidin Rudlof 12+ 7th A final.

Experts: Curtis Gatting 7 yrs 8th B final; Fletcher Powe 7 yrs 6th A final; Leah Chapple 10 yr girls 2nd; Zak scales 14 + 6th A final; Alex Hammett 16+ cruiser 2nd; Alex hammett 20” 16 + 2nd B final; Will nethacott 17+ 8th A final; Justin Gatting 17-39 cruiser 7th B final (2nd in age group); Richard Chapple 17-39 cruiser 6th B final (1st in age group).
