Shotokan club members gain major accolades

TWO members of Barnstaple Shotokan Karate Club are celebrating major achievements.

After 28 years of training and teaching, Mark Blanche has graded up to fifth dan black belt.

Mark was graded by the chairman of the Karate Union of Great Britain, ninth dan Andy Sherry, at Chesterfield in a bi-yearly grading ceremony.

The club’s longest training and teaching member, Kevin White, has also received recognition from the KUGB at the 48th national championships in Birmingham.

He was awarded a certificate for 30 years’ continuous membership by Andy Sherry.

Kevin has been described as ‘an inspiration to us all’ by his clubmates.
