Alastair Peak and David Byrnes were in action for Bideford Blues in Nottingham

Two Bideford Blues rowers picked up silver medals for their efforts at the British Masters Rowing Championships in Nottingham.

Alastair Peak and David Byrnes were in action in the D 2X category, for rowers between 50 and 55 years of age.

The pair reached the final after a storming heat, where they completed the 2000m course in three minutes 57 seconds to finish first.

They improved on that time by a second in the final, but lost out to Wallingford’s Peter King and Michael Edge, who crossed in three minutes 51 seconds.

Next up for the pair is the Henley Masters, which takes place next month.
