Bidefords rowing clubs were in action for the third successive weekend as they travelled to Plymouth for round three of the West of England Championship season. Both clubs came away from the days with two major class victories. The Reds had runners-up in five events, while the Blues picked up six second places. Darren Palmer, Theon Rogers, Jeff Gay and Andy Cox continued their winning ways for the Reds in the mens novice fours. They recorded their third victory of the season. The senior C crew of Adam Curtis, Karl Rowland, Luis Wilkins and Alex Rowland plus cox Eloise Hunt have now established themselves as front runners of the category following their win, with a four-point lead over nearest challengers Dart Totnes. Also performing well were the young girls junior 14 crew of Chloe Hold, Lara Gasorowski, Erin Horrell and Emily Bracken. They picked up a second place in their first competitive season and now stand in second spot in the championship, just a single point behind leaders Plymouth. There was success for the Blues junior 14 fours crew of Charlie Colwill, Toby Evans, Jack Berry and Nell Gierke (pictured above), who won their race. The Blues were also successful in the novice mixed, with the crew of Dave Bates, Renata Dualibi-Wilson, Dan Talbot and Sam Dolby finishing first. James Jordan earned second place finishes in the junior 16 scull and the junior 18 double with Nick Dualibi-Wilson. There were also second places for both the mens and womens senior C crews.
