BIDEFORD Rifle Club is still riding high in the North Devon League, but is finding the Devon Winter League more difficult.Three more wins in the North Devon competition sees all three Bideford teams maintain their places at the top of their divisions.Martin Morgan was top scorer for the A team with 99/100 as they just beat Bogey 392-391.9.Ann Travis led the way for the B team with 98/100 in a close 379-378 victory over Sidbury B and Mel Ensor was top scorer with 96/100 as the C team overcame Sidbury C 365-359.John Hutchings leads the individual championship by a single point with team-mate Martin Morgan in third place.Ann Travis has a good lead in the ladies' competition and is second in the veterans, with Pete Thompson in third.The Devon League saw a one-point victory for the A team over Teign Valley Rifles, but the B team suffered a four point defeat by Tavistock and a 17-point setback at the hands of Budleigh Salterton B and both are languishing near the bottom of their divisions. Bideford C are doing best, in third position in their division.The only bright spot in this league is Ross Prior's lead in the junior section, although this has now been cut to two points.
