Bideford scored three in a row in the second half to come from behind and beat Avonmouth Old Boys 34-23.

The Mouth were 23-15 up midway through the second half but couldn’t hold on.

Callum Sumner had put Bideford ahead with a try, only for Joe Wearne to reply for the Mouth.

Sam Griffin crossed on the wing as Bideford scored again. Wearne kept the visitors in touch with another penalty.

Avonmouth finished the half with a flourish as Jay Musgrave and Ryan Templar both scored. Wearne converted twice.

Bideford showed their second half intent with a drive-over try for Dave Evands.

Wearne had one more penalty in him, after that it was all Bideford.

The maul was dug out for Dean Folland to touch down.

Pat Sanders created and converted a try by Matt Slee, who raced over from 30 metres.

When Avonmouth were turned over the ball was returned with interest for Snell to score his second and Sanders to convert.

Bideford have no game this Saturday as they have a bye in the Devon Cup first round.

They will meet the winners of the game between Barnstaple and Brixham.
