BIDEFORD Colts suffered the disappointment of a last-gasp defeat when they went down 13-10 at Exmouth.Exmouth struck early with a converted try under the posts - and ought to have scored at least once more before half time.Bideford's pack couldn't get their act together and poor decision making compounded the problem.Bideford did score late in the first half when Jamie Evans crossed after good loose play.Bideford made changes at the break - Adam Crouch came on at 10 and Mark Schofield moved to 12 - and the midfield started to work more effectively.Matt Bowes was the pick of the forwards, making good yardage picking from the scrums.Bideford finally got their act together with the backs putting in some excellent work. Crouch kicked to the corner which resulted in a line-out, from which Bideford set up a catch and drive for George Snell to power over to make it 10-all.Three minutes from time Bideford gave away a silly penalty and Exmouth knocked it over.Man of the Match went jointly to Will Bathurst and Josh King for their hard running.l TORRINGTON 2nd XV were 15-12 winners in a scrappy match against Wessex Wyverns.Torrington, starting with only 13 men and with seven regulars missing, went into a five-point lead thanks to a well- worked forward try by Phil Arnold.Wessex quickly came back with a seven pointer of their own.When Torrie had a player turn up, they quickly took the upper hand in the scrums, which led to Richard Huxtable scoring a try.Wessex responded with another try, which put them 12-10 up at the break.After an injury the game went to uncontested scrums, and the match became more frantic and untidy.After some neat running and handling by Rob Bewes and Karl Howell, Wayne Langdon scored the deciding try for Torrington with 10 minutes to play.Man of the Match went to Torrie flanker Josh Mitchell.Torrie 2nd XV entertain Tavistock 3rd XV this Saturday.www.northdevon.gov.uk
