BIDEFORD Nomads hosted Ilfracombe Mariners in a lively derby and ran out deserved 29-10 winners.

The pack continued it's good form and set up many opportunities for the backs, led in style by two-try scorer Stuart Arnett-Clarke.

As well as touching down in either half, Arnett-Clarke carved openings for Lee Faux and then Phil Crouch to storm over for tries.

The forwards earned a well-deserved push-over try with flanker Richard Squire finishing off a mighty shove.

Shaun Woodhead slotted two conversions on a blustery afternoon though Ilfracombe never gave up the cause.

The last quarter saw end-to-end rugby with the Ilfracombe pack shoving their hosts back on their five-metre line to score their second try, then holding Bideford out on their own line in the final moments to deny their hosts any further score.

There were fine performances from hooker Simon Tattersall, captain Mike Powe and lock Gus Meredith. Nomads' Man of the Match was the lively Toby Richards, who had a tremendous game on the flank.

Nomads now have a blank weekend to enable preparation for the return to Topsham on November 21.
