Bideford have a must-win encounter with Matson at King George’s this Saturday in Tribute South West One.

Last Saturday’s 28-10 defeat at Newent left Bideford one place above the relegation spots.

The team below them by two points is Matson, which is why it is a must-win game.

Bideford were 21-0 down just after half time at Newent and chasing crumbs after that.

Chris Snell converted a George Snell try and a penalty, but 21-10 down was as close as Bideford got.

Bradley Goaman, the Bideford team manager, said the team could have done better.

“We had enough ball to cause Newent problems, but kicked it away far too often and they scored two soft tries,” said Goaman.

“Some of the referee decisions were mind blowing to say the least.

“I can’t fault the effort of the players, but we have got to be more clinical in the last third of the pitch.

“The Matson game is huge and we must win to keep the Chiefs out of the relegation zone.”
