Bideford sealed a 34-27 victory in the last phase of the game to close in on leaders Yeovil.

Bideford Ladies closed the gap at the top of the NC South West South with a 34-27 win over North Petherton.

They ran in six tries in the win, with Sarah George crossing twice.

Sharan Bland, Lorraine Cleverdon, Gemma Carnegie and Nicole Chadwick also scored for Bideford.

Chadwick scored in the final phase of the game to seal the win.

George opened the scoring in the first five minutes, but soon found themselves behind, trailing 12-20 at half-time - Cleverdon scoring Bideford's second.

They added three more in the second half, with the scores level at 27-27 in the final moments.

But after a good scrum in the opposition 22, they were able to move the ball out to Chadwick, who crossed under the posts.

Bideford are now five points behind leaders Yeovil in the league table.

Their next game is at home to Penryn on Sunday.
