BIDEFORD had a tense last 10 minutes before beating St Austell 15-12.

There was never that much in it with Bideford 10-9 up at the break and 12-10 down with 10 minutes to go.

St Austell landed three first-half penalties through Andy Ashwin, who added a fourth after the break.

Bideford used their wide boys to put tries on the board with James Buckland going in up one wing and Mark Schofield scoring on the other, to take his personal tally to six in the last three games.

The decisive score came from the Bideford back row when Simon Bright claimed a push-over try.

"After that we dogged it out for the last 10 minutes or so, making sure we didn't give away a penalty that would have let them draw level," said Bideford's James Morris.

Bideford are away to Stithians this Saturday. The 2nd XV have no game.
