Bideford Amateur Athletic Club’s Shaun Antell ensured there was a home win at the Bideford Half Marathon 2018 on Sunday.
Antell was the first of 1,263 runners to cross the line, adding to his victories from 2015, 2014 and 2012.
Finishing in a time of 1hr, 8mins and 39secs, the Bideford runner crossed the line three-and-a-half minutes ahead of his nearest rivals.
Steve Osborne was second, finishing the course in 1hr, 12mins and 11secs.
Taunton Athletics Club’s Phil Burden was close behind, crossing after 1hr, 12 mins and 13secs.
There was a top 10 finish for Bideford’s James Pugley too, with the home runner finishing sixth with a time of 1hr, 16mins and 18secs.
Charnwood’s Katie Synge’s time of 1hr, 20mins and 40secs made her the fastest female.
Last year’s fastest lady Serane Stone was second this time out, crossing the line after 1hr, 22mins and 20 secs, putting her in the top two ladies for the fifth consecutive year.
London Heathside’s Bethany Scott was the third fastest, finishing in 1hr, 24mins and 8secs.
Competitors ran from The Pill in Bideford to Torrington along the A386, before heading back to Bideford Quay along the Tarka Trail.
