Will Copp scored a last-gasp try to give Bideford a 33-31 win over visiting Thornbury on the opening day of the Tribute South West One West season. The lead changed hands from start to finish, but when Bideford were 28-19 up midway through the second half it looked like their game. Back came Thornbury with two tries one of them converted to lead 31-28 with a couple of minutes to go. The game was won and lost when Thornbury had a player sin-binned for a high tackle and Bideford were awarded a penalty. Copp tapped and went before Thornbury could get organised and slid in for his second try of the match. Copps first try was scored on two minutes and converted by Chris Snell. Thorns led 14-7 by the break, but converted tries by Richie Norman and kicker Snell had Bideford 21-14 up. Thorne got back to 21-19 with a try, only for Snell to convert after Dean Folland scored by the woodwork. That appeared to be that until the dramatic finale. Bideford are at home to Bridgwater this Saturday.
