Bideford Rifle Club members Adie Pile and Ann Travis will both be in the team of six shots representing Devon in the final of the national Queen Alexandra Cup competition at Bisley in August.

Bideford suffered setbacks in the latest round of the National 50 metres League, but their B team produced a fine performance to gain their only win.

The B team score of 1,912 out of 2,000, helped by a 100 maximum card from John Hutchings, was the highest in their division. The team now lies at the top of Division 10, with six rounds to go.

Bideford A team fell to the best score in Division 3 and the C team were beaten by 40 points. Best score in the A team came from Martin Morgan with 393 out of 400, including 100 on one card, in the B team John Hutchings was best with 391 and in the C team Keith Travis was highest scorer with 369.

Bideford shots have also gained some good placings in various individual league competitions.

In the Hendon League, Alex Lane is easily top of Division 2 in the 20-yards Air Pistol League, his latest score of 275 ex 300 more than 20 points ahead of his nearest rival.

Neil Rudkin tops Division 5 of the 50-metres Bench Rest League, while Keith Kersey lies third in Division 3.

Best placing in the Cumbria League is from Neil Rudkin, in second place in Division 8 of the Bench Rest League, only one point behind the leader. Sarah Pile stays at the top of Division 11 of the prone league, well ahead on both match points and aggregate score.
