The teams met each other on Sunday in the Hayes Garden Machinery North Devon Cricket League.

Centuries from Tom Ansell (105) and Joe Kelly (110) weren’t enough for North Devon as Bideford’s James Ford smashed an unbeaten 127 from 119 balls to beat North Devon at Westward Ho! on Sunday.

Bideford’s Ji Eccles also weighed in with a swashbuckling 82 from 73 balls.

North Devon made a creditable 273 runs from their 40 overs, but it wasn’t enough as Bideford successfully chased down the total with an over to spare.

The pick of the bowlers were Rikki Kelly for North Devon, who only conceded 26 runs from his eight overs.

While Bideford’s Ford took two wickets for 26 runs from his eight overs.

Bideford’s second team also took the honours in the reverse fixture at Instow, with 12-year-old James Hayter starring with an unbeaten 52 runs.

Devon U12s bowler Ben Seaman took 3-16 from six overs to restrict North Devon to 152 all out.

Hayter then opened the batting and carried his bat through for 52 not out to help take Bideford to 156-4.
