Bideford Reds and Bideford Amateur Athletic Club were in action in the West of England Championships

Bideford’s rowing clubs travelled to Exeter for the fourth leg of the West of England Championship season.

The Reds and Blues both find themselves in contention for Championship titles after the halfway point of the season.

Top performers for the Reds were the ladies’ senior B team of Jess Giddy, Libbie Willis, Hannah Vincent and Chloe Pennington.

They secured an impressive victory to increase their gap at the top of the championship.

The men’s senior B crew of Adam Curtis, Alex Rowland, Ross Bennett and Jon Lamont also remain in a good position, despite being beaten to a first place by Exeter.

The Reds also head up the men’s senior C fours, despite losing to Exeter in a heat.

The Blues notched up eight wins at the regatta.

The hard work of their junior 14 coxed quad is beginning to pay off.

Nell Geirke, Charlie Smale, Sadhbh Connor and Joanna Grigg picked up their first ever win with cox Tina Robertson.

Alex Dualibi-Wilson picked up another hat-trick of wins, including the men’s junior 16 scull, and junior 16 double scull with James Jordan.

He was also in the successful junior 16 coxed quad with Jordon, Jamie Norton, Jasper Beer and cox Hannah Myers.

There were also race wins for the Blues’ ladies’ junior 18 fours, mixed senior C fours, and the men’s masters fours and mixed novice fours.
