Bidefords rowing clubs took to the water for the second round of the West of England season at Totnes over the weekend.The Reds club concentrated their efforts on the main championship races on Sunday, coming away with a number of impressive performances and three wins. The novice men recorded their second consecutive win, with Andy Cox and Darren Palmer replacing Glynn Brown and Chris Thorne, who were in action in the senior C race. Having finished third at Wimbleball last week, the senior B four of Adam Curtis, Karl Rowland, Luis Wilkins and Jon Lamont finished ahead of the field to pick up their first win of the year. In the corresponding ladies race, Jess Giddy, Libbie Willis, Hannah Vincent and Chloe Pennington finished ahead of the home club. The Blues picked up ten top three finishes on Sunday, including two wins. The junior 16 fours crew of James Jordan, Alex Dualibi-Wilson, Jasper Beer and Jamie Norton (who made his first competitive appearance) along with cox Hannah Myers had to fight for the line and nudge ahead of Totnes. Dualibi-Wilson went on to win his junior 16 scull race in another successful event. The womens junior 18 fours, mens senior B fours, womens junior 14 fours, womens junior scull and women senior C fours all earned second places. The third round of the series takes place in Plymouth.
