Bideford Amateur Boxing Club’s Billy Stanbury made it five wins in a row on Saturday night at Tiverton.

Stanbury was in action for the club along with Lewis Mackenzie and Kohan Kennedy.

The senior took on Devonport’s Jordan Cogley in a rematch, with Cogley getting the best of last season’s bout. This time Stanbury was sharper, setting the pace from the off and moving in and out of range well to land clean shots.

Stanbury put on a show in the final round, working in upper cuts and body shots on the way to a unanimous victory.

Mackenzie boxed home favourite Brad Davey. After a positive start a head clash left the Bideford boxer bloody, slowing him down in the early rounds. Davey used his reach to good effect to score with straight shots.

Mackenzie went for a grandstand finish, landing a big left hook, but Davey saw the bout out to win on points.

Kennedy gained experience against Whitchurch ABC’s Malaky Langford, with his opponent’s southpaw stance causing problems for the Bideford boxer.

Kennedy had a big secound round, landing punches down the middle of Langford’s guard, but the southpaw scored with some strong left hooks and took a points decision at the end.
