BIDEFORD beat Bude 39-0 at King George’s to extend their unbeaten home record to two calendar years.
Bude travelled with high expectations of a win and despite a couple of injuries fielded a good side.
Bideford were without long- term absentee Dave Slee (surgery) and Ben Westaway (wedding), but welcomed back Josh King and Michael Dunn to the side.
The back row led the way for the pack with Hockridge, Giddy and Weston all putting in a massive tally of tackles and turn-over ball. Hockridge and Mock showed outstanding ability in the line-out, stealing ball from the opposition.
Bideford knew if they dominated up front their backs were always going to score and five tries resulted, with captain Loosemore (2) leading the charge. Josh King, Sam Olde, James Starkey and James O’Sullivan scored one apiece, with Ollie Wickett kicking the rest of the points.
Coach Kevin Booth said the forwards deserved the credit for the size of the win.
“We have worked long and hard at the set pieces and it is paying off,” said Booth. “We are not the biggest of packs, but we have worked on technique through pre-season and are getting some great turn-over ball.”
Bideford travel to North Petherton this Saturday, but will be without Chris Snell and Paul Thomas and will look to use their squad to fill these roles.
