NORTH Devon volleyball player and coach Denise Austin rounded off a great 2010 season by scooping three 'Best Of' awards, nominated by her fellow Volleyball England Beach Tour players.

She won the Best Passer, Best Setter and Best Defender of the year 2010.

"It's always such a thrill to be recognised by your peers and to win three in one year was amazing, it will keep me inspired for next season for sure,"she said.

Denise, a GBR Beach Volleyball International and Volleyball England National Junior Coach, won the Gold Coast Oceanfest Parkdean Holidays Queen of the Beach back in June for a record eighth year, then went on the secure victories in VEBT Events in Margate and Sandbanks, playing with her Scottish partner Mel Coutts and securing their number three spot in the country, only behind the full time British Programme athletes competing on the World Tour.

She said: "It's been a stunning season and the saying about putting an old head on young shoulders rings true. In my younger days, if I had had the knowledge of experience and understanding, knowing what will happen instead of reacting to the play. It has made the game so much easier at 42!
