EX-PROFESSIONAL basketball player David Passmore, 26, is returning home to Barnstaple again to hold another Hoop Dreams Basketball Camp at Pilton Community College. With him will be England International Alan Kipreanus and ex-England coach Martin Richardson. The camp from August 22-25 is designed for boys and girls aged 13 - 20 years and will focus on teaching youngsters the fundamental skills of the game, while providing a free t-shirt and basketball to every camper and the opportunity to take part and win awards in fun, competitive competitions. At the end of the camp 12 talented players will be selected to play in a final All-Star game for their last chance to impress the talent scouts.David, the camp director, played for British Basketball League side Leicester Riders before picking up an injury which forced him to retire. He said: "It's all about helping the young kids in the area have the opportunity to do well. The aim of this camp is to give North Devon children the opportunity to be coached at the highest level and give the already talented youngsters a chance to have fun showing off their skills to the scouts." David believes there is a lot of undetected basketball talent in North Devon and wants to help the youngsters get noticed. "The problem in North Devon at the moment is that there is nowhere for the talented players to go and play, as there is no national league team here," he said. "But plans are being made to start a league team in the North Devon area next season for children 13 and over."To find out more visit the website www.hoopdreamsbasketballcamp.co.uk or email David on hoopdreamsbasketballcamp@hotmail.co.uk to get a booking form.
