Barnstaple are living dangerously in National League Two South following a 46-16 defeat at Old Redcliffians.
Defeat dropped them to the brink of the relegation zone – the only thing between the North Devon side and a drop spot is one more win than London Irish Amateurs.
They have two games to keep it that way.
Barnstaple need a win over visiting Worthing this Saturday to ensure the Ammies don’t go past them.
Relegation rivals Wimbledon visit Pottington a week later in the last game of the season. The Londoners could be relegated by then if they lose to Old Reds this Saturday. If they don’t it is going to be a tense affair.
Reds went 27-6 up in the first half – Jake Murphy landing two penalties for Barum – and the game was effectively over as a contest.
Barum enjoyed a period of pressure and replacement Mike Peak scored in the corner. No.8 Danny Southworth barrelled over from a scrum.
