BARNSTAPLE under 12's rugby team was unlucky not to reach their Twickenham final on Saturday after drawing in the semi-finals against Yorkshire champions Ripon with one try apiece. Barum scored first with a strong run from Nat Bayet, who crashed over in the corner. But Ripon kept possession of the ball for most of the second half and eventually scored right on full time. Because Ripon had scored more tries in their earlier group competition at Nottingham, they went through to the final on points difference. The Barum boys were well supported by a large Barnstaple crowd, many of whom left the club early that morning and their support was much appreciated.
