BARNSTAPLE U15s lost 20-12 at Exmouth in the quarter-finals of the Devon Cup.Exmouth were out of the blocks faster and scored an unconverted try in the first couple of minutes.Poor tackling let Exmouth in for another try. Good Barum rucking and slick hands put Rob Elliott into space. His pace and strength were too much and he went in under the posts. The conversion failed, leaving Barum 12-5 down at the break.Barum blitzed into Exmouth from the restart and stole the ball off the Cockles at the first ruck.Possession was recycled quickly through the backs and into the hands of Elliott, who scored a memorable try from inside his own half. Joe Earlam converted to make it 12-12. Elliott's try was the highlight of Barum's half. They pushed and fought hard but could get little fluency. Exmouth scored another try and a penalty to secure their place in the last four.l BARNSTAPLE U14s rued missing first-half opportunities against Devonport Services, losing 22-5. After Devonport took an early 3-0 lead, Barnstaple controlled the first-half. Devonport took full advantage of the windy conditions in the second half, keeping Barnstaple pinned in their own territory. Eventually, Services' strong forwards began to provide clean possession for their dangerous backs. Missed tackles allowed Devonport to score a try on the left wing for an 8-0 lead. With Barnstaple chasing the game, Devonport took full advantage of the spaces provided to score two more tries.Barum's James Reeves scored a consolation try in the last minute.
