Barum Boxing Club’s first home show of the season takes place on Saturday.

There are 12 Barum boxers scheduled to step into the ring for the night of boxing at Petroc Sports Hall begins at 7pm, with entry £10 for adults and £5 for U16s.

Rob Squires will be topping the bill at the show, taking on White Hart Lane Boxing Academy’s Jamie Tshikeva in a super heavyweight contest.

Squires goes into the bout fresh from a victory in Harrow on Friday night. He stepped in at short notice to take on Evolve ABC’s Jamie Smith, but that didn’t phase him, winning by a unanimous decision and earning the best away boxer award.

After a strong first round from Squire, Smith adapted in the second, drawing the Barum boxer into his backhand.

But Squires took control in the final round to seal the unanimous decision.

Barum’s Hickson Bishop was also in action over the weekend, taking on Tiverton ABC’s Charlie O’Loughlin.

Bishop showed plenty of skill over the three rounds, but at the end of a competitive bout was on the wrong end of a points decision.
