Barnstaple Swimming Club’s senior water polo team was in the pool on Saturday in the Lamb Trophy tournament at HMS Raleigh.

Barnstaple were runners up after taking on teams from the Royal Navy, Devonport, a Devon U19 side and Paignton.

They started in tremendous form, beating Royal Navy 6-1 in their opening game before beating trophy holders Devonport 6-5.

Next up was a 7-2 victory over the Devon U19 team to set up the final match against Paignton, who had also won every game.

The deciding match finished 2-2, with Barnstaple having to settle for the runners up spot on account of their goal difference.

Haydn Lawson and James Bunney scored most of Barnstaple’s goals with Nick Moore and Matt Bull also netting.
