Two Barnstaple swimmers have come away from a national competition with silverware.
Josh Gammon and Tyler Weatherly were representing Barnstaple Swimming Club at the Swim England National Summer Meet in Sheffield on Friday.
Both came back with medals, with Weatherly taking silver in the men’s U16 50m breaststroke, and Gammon taking bronze in the men’s U15 200m butterfly.
Both swimmers came away with personal best times, with Weatherly’s time of 31.11 seconds leaving him agonisingly short of going one better. He was just four hundredths of a second behind winner Daniel Kinsella from Warrington.
Weatherly’s swim came after Gammon had already secured bronze in the 200m butterfly.
His finishing time of 2:12.48 was a personal best. The Barnstaple swimmer finished little more than a second behind the winner, Teddington’s Edward Hunt, who clocked in a 2:11.20.
Between them was Watford Swimming Club’s Devesh Kapoor, who finished with a time of 2:12.28.
