Barnstaple’s winning run came to an end at Brixham where the 14-man Fishermen held on to win 22-17.
Referee Adam Lisle kept himself busy on the card front by issuing five yellows and a red.
At one stage both sides were down to 13 men as the sin-bin filled up.
Flanker Trae Gosling was the Brixham player to get his marching orders, going off in the 27th minute for allegedly throwing a punch at Barum skipper Winson James.
Barum trio Mark Berry, Matt Gohl and Linford Brock all earned yellow cards, as did Brixham’s Chey Bryce.
Brixham went behind to a Luke Berry penalty, then forged ahead with Ben Lovell converting a Jonny Brown try and a penalty.
Barnstaple levelled when Berry converted a try by new boy Sam Conway, who arrived from Withycombe recently, only for Lovell to jab Brixham back in front with two penalties.
Barum snatched the lead by a point just after the break when James got over and Luke Berry converted.
Lovell put Brixham back in front and landed one more penalty with a couple of minutes to go to seal the game.
Barnstaple have no first team game this weekend.
